“My Church Disgraced Me After I Decided to Marry” – Gospel Singer Nhyira Betty Shares Painful Experience

Ghanaian gospel musician Nhyira Betty has recounted one of the most heartbreaking moments of her life, which occurred when she decided to get married some years ago.

In an interview with popular blogger Zionfelix on The Uncut Show, the singer revealed that her former church, Christ Apostolic Church at Accra New Town, made her marriage journey extremely difficult, forcing her to move the wedding to Kumasi with her husband.

According to Nhyira Betty, the problems began after she formally announced her intention to marry. Instead of receiving support and encouragement from the church she had served faithfully, she faced opposition and unnecessary restrictions from its leaders.

The celebrated gospel artiste, who gained widespread attention in 2012 though she released her first album in 2007, described the experience as deeply painful and disappointing. She said it was disheartening to see the same people she once respected spiritually turn against her during such an important moment in her life.

Despite the frustration, Nhyira Betty explained that she still returned to the church after her marriage to express her gratitude, but what happened next left her completely shocked. Upon her return, she and her husband were made to stand before the congregation, not to be celebrated, but to be humiliated publicly.

The incident left her devastated, and she eventually decided to relocate permanently to Kumasi. She currently lives there with her family, continuing her gospel ministry and music career.
